How to Use Sika MonoTop-1010 KE

Step 1 – Surface Preparation: Remove all loose, weak or contaminated concrete. Clean exposed rebar to bright metal (wire brush, grit blast or needle gun) — remove all rust, scale, oil and grease.

Step 2 – Pre-wetting (for bonding primer use): Thoroughly pre-wet the prepared concrete substrate, ideally 2 hours before application, keeping the surface wet. Before applying, remove excess standing water with a clean sponge — the surface should look dark matt without glistening, and pores must not hold water. Sherwin Williams

Step 3 – Mixing: Pour the recommended clean water into a mixing container, then slowly add the powder while stirring and mix thoroughly for at least 3 minutes using a low-speed (below 500 rpm) paddle mixer. Use the water dosage printed on the bag — do not exceed the recommended water quantity. SikaSika

Step 4 – Application as Rebar Primer: Brush the slurry onto the cleaned steel in 2 coats, achieving minimum 2 mm total thickness. Allow the coating to harden before applying repair mortar — repair mortar is applied wet-on-dry over the corrosion protection coat. Sika

Step 5 – Application as Bonding Primer: Scrub the slurry firmly into the pre-wetted concrete surface, filling all pores and voids. Apply the concrete repair mortar wet-on-wet onto the bonding primer (while the primer is still fresh). Sika

Step 6 – Cleaning: Clean all tools and equipment with water immediately after use. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.

Precautions: Avoid application in direct sun, strong wind or rain; apply only to sound, properly prepared substrates. Wear gloves, goggles and a dust mask when handling cementitious products. Rawlins Paints
