Sika MonoTop-1010 (25kg
bag) is the professional's answer. It is a smart, one-part, cementitious,
polymer-modified coating that does two critical jobs in a single product: it
shields exposed steel reinforcement from corrosion, and it acts as a high-grip bonding
primer that locks your new repair mortar to the old concrete. One bag, twice
the protection.
Why Builders Choose Sika
MonoTop-1010
- Two products in one — anti-corrosion primer for steel and bonding bridge for mortar.
- Stops rebar corrosion — actively protects reinforcement so repairs don't fail again.
- Rock-solid adhesion — bonds beautifully to both concrete and steel.
- Easy to use — single component, just add clean water and mix.
- Indoor & outdoor — perfect for columns, beams, slabs, tanks, culverts & bridges.
- Brush or spray — flexible application to suit your site. CE marked to EN 1504-7.
Where to Use It
Use Sika MonoTop-1010 as a reinforcement corrosion protection
coating on cleaned, exposed rebar, and as a bonding primer beneath Sika MonoTop
repair mortars. Ideal for structural and non-structural concrete repairs on
columns, beams, floor slabs, balconies, staircases, water tanks and reservoirs,
bridges, culverts and any concrete patch repair — inside or outside, above or
below ground.

How to Use Sika MonoTop-1010
(Step by Step)
Step 1 — Prepare the surface
Break out all loose, damaged and carbonated concrete back to a sound base.
Clean the exposed steel reinforcement to bright metal — remove every trace of
rust, scale and dirt (wire-brushing or sand-blasting is best). Pre-wet the
prepared concrete for at least 2 hours until it is saturated surface dry (SSD)
— dark and matt, with no shiny water film.
Step 2 — Mix
Pour the clean water into a clean bucket first — about 5.25 litres per 25 kg
bag for brush application (~5.0 litres for spray). Add the powder slowly while
mixing. Use a low-speed paddle mixer (below 500 rpm) or mix by hand for at
least 3 minutes until smooth and lump-free. Only mix what you can use within
the pot life.
Step 3 — As reinforcement corrosion protection
Brush the mix onto the cleaned steel in two coats, each about 1 mm thick. Apply
the second coat once the first is fingernail-hard. Cover every bar fully,
including the backs where you can reach. Let it dry completely before applying
repair mortar.
Step 4 — As a bonding primer
Work the slurry firmly into the pre-wetted concrete with a stiff brush, filling
all pores and voids. Then apply your Sika MonoTop repair mortar wet-on-wet —
onto the still-fresh, tacky primer — so both layers bond as one. Never let the
bonding primer dry out before placing the mortar.
Step 5 — Cure & protect
Protect the fresh coating immediately from sun, wind, rain and contamination.
Respect the pot life (~120 min brush / ~90 min spray at +20°C — hot weather
shortens this). Wash all tools with water right away, before the material
hardens.
Safety: This is an alkaline cement-based product. Wear gloves,
eye protection and a dust mask when mixing. Avoid skin and eye contact, keep
away from children, and follow the Sika Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
