How to Use Akfix Hot Melt Adhesive (Step by Step)

1. Prepare the BoardsEnsure board edges are cleanly cut, dry and dust-free. Material moisture should be 8–10% and workshop temperature above 15°C for the strongest bond.
2. Load the GranulesFill the glue pot / tank of your edge banding machine with HM220 granules. Do not mix with other adhesive brands or grades.
3. Melt to TemperatureSet the tank temperature to 180–200°C and the application roller to 200–220°C. Allow the granules to melt fully into a smooth, even flow before starting.
4. Apply to One SurfaceThe molten adhesive is applied by the roller to one surface only — spread evenly across the full board edge for complete coverage.
5. Feed & Press the EdgingRun the machine at 10–27 m/min feeding speed. Press the edging tape onto the glued edge immediately — open time is only 45–50 seconds.
6. Trim & FinishOnce bonded (high green strength is immediate), trim the excess edging flush. The surface stays clean and non-sticky, ready for finishing.
