Akfix 600 is a single-component, moisture-curing, self-expanding aerosol polyurethane (PU) foam supplied in a 750ml can with a straw adapter for easy, gun-free application. It is one of the most trusted expanding foams in Kenya for fixing and insulating door and window frames, filling gaps, joints and cavities, sealing penetrations in walls, and insulating electrical outlets and hot/cold water pipes.

Once dispensed, the foam expands to fill irregular spaces, then cures with air moisture into a rigid, closed-cell foam that provides excellent thermal and acoustic insulation. Cured foam is mould-proof, water-resistant, and can be trimmed, shaped, sanded, plastered and painted over. The formulation contains no propellant gases harmful to the ozone layer.

  • High Yield – Up to 30–45 LitresOne 750ml can expands into 30–45 litres of cured foam depending on temperature and humidity, making it highly economical per metre of gap filled.
  • Excellent Adhesion-Bonds strongly to concrete, brick, stone, plaster, wood, metal, glass and most building materials (not polyethylene, Teflon, silicone or oily surfaces).
  • Thermal & Acoustic InsulationClosed-cell structure blocks heat transfer and reduces noise – ideal around window frames, AC pipe penetrations and partition walls.
  • Strong Mounting Capacity- Holds door and window frames firmly in position while providing a sealed, insulated joint around the frame.
  • Mould-Proof & Water-Resistant- Cured foam resists mould and water, and is over-paintable for a neat, finished look indoors and outdoors.
  • Easy Straw Application Straw adapter included in every can – no foam gun required. Perfect for fundis, contractors and DIY users alike

Where to Use Akfix 600 PU Foam

Door & Window InstallationFixing and insulating timber, steel and aluminium door and window frames – the number one use on Kenyan sites.
Gap & Joint FillingFilling and sealing gaps, joints and cavities in walls, around lintels, and between blockwork and frames.
Wall PenetrationsSealing openings where conduits, ducts, DSTV cables and plumbing pass through walls and slabs.
Pipe & Outlet InsulationInsulating hot and cold water pipes and electrical outlet boxes against heat loss and noise.
Roofing & Ceiling WorksSealing gaps at wall plates, under iron sheets and around ceiling penetrations to stop draughts, dust and pests.
SoundproofingFilling voids in partition walls and around noisy service penetrations for quieter rooms.

How to Use Akfix 600 PU Foam – Step by Step

  1. Prepare the surface. Clean the gap or joint of dust, loose particles, oil and grease. Lightly dampen the surfaces with water – moisture improves adhesion and speeds up curing.
  2. Prepare the can. Ensure the can is at room temperature (ideally around +20°C). Shake the can vigorously for at least 20–30 seconds to mix the contents.
  3. Fit the straw. Screw the supplied straw adapter firmly onto the can valve.
  4. Apply upside down. Hold the can upside down and press the valve to dispense. Fill gaps only about 50–60% full – the foam expands 2–3 times as it cures.
  5. Work bottom-up on vertical joints. For door and window frames, apply in short beads from the bottom upwards, keeping the frame braced/wedged so expansion does not bow it.
  6. Mist with water. Lightly spray the fresh foam with water to accelerate curing, especially in dry weather.
  7. Trim after curing. Once cuttable (30–45 minutes), trim excess foam flush with a sharp knife. Full cure takes 24 hours.
  8. Finish and protect. Plaster, paint or cover the cured foam – UV sunlight discolours and degrades exposed foam over time, so never leave it bare outdoors.
