Akfix A115 Engine Cleaner is a fast-acting, solvent-based aerosol engine degreaser that dissolves hardened oil, grease, sludge, brake dust and road grime from car, motorcycle, tractor and industrial machine engines — without dismantling a single part. Supplied in a convenient 500ml pressurised can with a directional spray nozzle, it reaches into the tight, awkward corners of an engine bay that a brush and bucket simply cannot.

Whether you run a busy garage on Magadi Road, service boda bodas around Tuala, maintain a fleet of pick-ups, or you simply want your engine bay looking showroom-clean before resale, Akfix A115 gives you a professional-grade clean in minutes. It is available over the counter at Shabbiri Hardware, Ongata Rongai and Tuala.

Why Buy Akfix A115 Engine Cleaner Spray in Kenya?

  • Cuts through baked-on grease fast — the active solvent blend softens and lifts oil films, sludge and carbon deposits within 2–5 minutes of contact.
  • No dismantling required — spray directly onto the assembled engine, gearbox housing, chassis or machine parts.
  • 360° directional nozzle — the extended spray pattern reaches behind the alternator, under the manifold and along the sump where dirt hides.
  • Leaves no sticky residue — rinses away cleanly with a low-pressure water spray, leaving a dry, clean metal surface.
  • Multi-surface capable — safe on most painted metal, cast iron, aluminium, steel and chrome engine components when used as directed.
  • Improves fault diagnosis — a clean engine makes oil leaks, coolant weeps and cracked hoses immediately visible.
  • Reduces overheating risk — a grease-caked block traps heat; a clean block radiates it properly.
  • Better resale value — a spotless engine bay signals a well-maintained vehicle to any buyer or inspector.
  • Workshop economical — one 500ml can typically covers 2–4 complete saloon-car engine bays.

What Does Akfix A115 Engine Cleaner Remove?

Engine oil films · grease and sludge build-up · carbon and soot deposits · road tar and bitumen splash · brake and clutch dust · gearbox and differential oil weep · underbody mud bonded with oil · fuel and diesel residue · dust caked onto oily surfaces · wax and old protective coatings

H2: How to Use Akfix A115 Engine Cleaner — Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1 — Prepare the engine (do not skip this) Park in a shaded, well-ventilated area. Switch off the engine and allow it to cool to lukewarm or cold. Never spray on a hot engine or near a hot exhaust manifold — the product is highly flammable. Disconnect the battery negative terminal for maximum safety.

Step 2 — Protect sensitive components Cover the alternator, distributor, air intake, exposed fuse box, ECU, spark plug openings, drive belts and any open electrical connectors with plastic sheeting or a polythene bag secured with masking tape.

Step 3 — Remove loose debris Brush or blow away loose leaves, dust and dry mud so the cleaner works directly on the oil and grease rather than being wasted on surface dirt.

Step 4 — Shake the can Shake well for 30–60 seconds before use, and periodically during use, to fully mix the active components.

Step 5 — Test on a small area On painted, plastic or unfamiliar surfaces, spray a small hidden patch first, wait 2 minutes and check for softening, staining or discolouration before treating the whole area.

Step 6 — Spray Hold the can upright, roughly 20–30 cm from the surface, and spray in a steady sweeping motion. Work from the bottom upwards so runs do not streak the untreated areas. Apply an even coat over all soiled parts. On heavy build-up, apply a slightly thicker coat.

Step 7 — Allow dwell time Let the cleaner soak for 2–5 minutes. Do not allow it to dry out on the surface. On thick, hardened deposits, extend to 8–10 minutes and re-wet the area if it begins to dry.

Step 8 — Agitate stubborn areas Work heavily soiled zones with a stiff nylon parts brush or an old paintbrush. Avoid wire brushes on painted or aluminium surfaces.

Step 9 — Rinse Rinse thoroughly with a low-pressure water spray or a damp cloth. Do not use a high-pressure jet washer directly on electrical connectors, sensors or seals — pressurised water forces moisture past gaskets and causes starting faults.

Step 10 — Repeat if needed For engines with years of build-up, a second application after the first rinse will lift the remaining film.

Step 11 — Dry and reconnect Remove all plastic coverings. Allow the engine to air dry, or wipe down with a clean lint-free cloth. Reconnect the battery. Start the engine and let it idle for 5–10 minutes so residual moisture evaporates.

Step 12 — Store correctly Replace the cap. Store the can upright below 30 °C, out of direct sunlight and away from any ignition source.

Pro tip for workshops: Clean the engine bay before diagnosis, not after. A degreased engine reveals the exact origin of an oil leak within one road test — saving hours of guesswork.

H2: Safety Information & Precautions

Hazard classification: Extremely flammable aerosol. Pressurised container.

  • Keep away from all ignition sources — naked flames, sparks, welding, grinding, hot surfaces and cigarettes. No smoking during use.
  • Use in a well-ventilated area only — outdoors or in an open workshop bay. Avoid inhaling the spray mist and vapour.
  • Wear PPE: solvent-resistant gloves (nitrile), safety goggles and, in confined spaces, a suitable respirator. Overalls are recommended.
  • Avoid skin contact. Repeated exposure defats the skin. Wash affected skin with soap and water.
  • Eye contact: rinse cautiously with clean water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses if present. Seek medical attention.
  • If inhaled: move the person into fresh air and keep them comfortable. Get medical help if breathing difficulty persists.
  • If swallowed: do not induce vomiting. Rinse the mouth and seek immediate medical attention with the product label to hand.
  • Do not pierce, crush, burn or incinerate the can, even when empty.
  • Do not store above 50 °C or in direct sunlight. Never leave the can inside a parked vehicle in the sun.
  • Keep out of reach of children and animals.
  • Do not spray on hot engines, exhausts, catalytic converters, brake discs or brake pads.
  • Environmental: do not allow rinse water to enter drains, watercourses or soil where avoidable. Use a wash bay with an oil interceptor where possible. Dispose of the empty can through an approved waste route.

Q: How many engines will one 500ml can clean? Typically 2–4 average saloon-car engine bays, or 4–8 motorcycle engines. Very heavily soiled engines may use most of one can.

Q: Can I use it while the engine is hot? No. It is an extremely flammable aerosol. Always let the engine cool to lukewarm or cold before spraying.

Q: Do I have to rinse with water? For best results, yes — a light, low-pressure rinse after 2–5 minutes carries away the dissolved grease. On light soiling, you can wipe off with a clean cloth instead.

Q: Is it safe on rubber hoses and wiring? Brief incidental contact is normally tolerated, but avoid deliberately soaking rubber hoses, belts or wiring insulation. Cover exposed electrical connectors before spraying.

Q: Will it damage my paintwork? It is generally safe on fully cured automotive paint, but always test a hidden area first and rinse promptly. Do not let it dry on paint.

Q: Can I use it on a motorcycle chain? It will remove old grease effectively. Remember to re-lubricate the chain with proper chain lube immediately after cleaning and drying.

Q: Does it work on diesel engines and tractors? Yes — it is well suited to heavy diesel soiling on trucks, tractors, generators and plant machinery.
